Welcome to St Martin on the Hill Scarborough
Serving the people of South Cliff,Scarborough
Mid-week Masses/Holy Communion in the Following a discussion with regular BCP Communicants it has been agreed to recommence on Tuesdays a weekly Service of BCP Holy Communion at St Martin’s starting on Tuesday 3 August at 10.00 am.
Since 19 July, the legal restrictions concerning the containment of the Covid virus have been removed.
On Sunday 18 July I was present to celebrate the Eucharist in the three churches of our two parishes.
I asked people for their views and to share their concerns about the legal removal of the restrictions so far as church worship was concerned.
Listening to people it became apparent that, for the time being, people believed it best
(i) to retain the seating arrangements in the three churches;
(ii) not to sing congregational hymns;
(iii) to continue to wear face masks unless there was good reason so as to protect others from transmission of the virus and reassure others who were vulnerable or nervous about the legal changes;
(iv) not to serve refreshments after the Sunday or weekday services;
At St Martin's on Wednesdays it was suggested and agreed to provide an urn of hot water so people could make there own tea or coffee.
And so it will be. Essentially, there will be no changes to the way in which we come and sit and participate in the celebration of the eucharist even though the legal restrictions have been removed.
Further, regarding the administration of the sacrament: in all three churches this will continue to be in one kind only.
The priest will continue to wear a face mask when administering the sacrament.
The situation will, of course, be kept under review.
If I can help further please to contact me.
